Welcome to Endurance Sports Nutrition (2nd Edition) Study Guide, a self-directed accredited learning program.
The program consists of a book of the same title by Suzanne Girard Eberle, MS, RD, CSSD and this study guide. The program is designed to help you understand the nutritional needs of individuals engaged in prolonged exercise as they differ from athletes engaged in power, stop-and-go, or team sports. The program provides you with practical information and "behind the scenes" support as you coach clients through unique nutritional challenges that endurance athletes must master in order to be successful. It is also designed to help you earn 30 Level 2 Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEUs).
This learning program is a Level 2 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program. Level 2 means that you have general knowledge of the literature and professional practice in the areas covered. The focus of the program is to enhance knowledge and application.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
With over 30 years of competitive endeavors and endurance adventures under
her belt, board-certified sports dietitian Suzanne Girard Eberle, MS, RD, CSSD,
has ample real-life experience practicing what she teaches. During her first
career as an elite runner (4:28 mile/32:40 10K, USA Track & Field 5,000-meter
champion and member three USA teams), Girard Eberle raced around the world.
Today, she runs 50 miles per week and avidly pursues cycling, hiking and climbing
(rock and alpine). Some of her endurance accomplishments include having reached
the summits of the highest mountains in the Alps and Africa, Mont Blanc and
Mount Kilimanjaro, completing her first STP (200 mile Seattle to Portland bike
ride) in under 12 hours, finishing second in her first state time trial championship
(cat 4) and climbing the Grand Teton in a day.
Girard Eberle is the author of Endurance Sports Nutrition-Second Edition (Human
Kinetics, 2007). As the founder of Eat, Drink, Win!® she coaches athletes
of all levels, beginners to world-class, on how to succeed by embracing high
performance eating habits. Working as a nutrition therapist, Girard Eberle counsels
teens and adults struggling with eating-disordered behaviors and weight issues
on establishing a healthier relationship with food and their bodies.
A longtime contributor to Running Times, her nutrition advice has also appeared
in USA Today, Newsweek, National Strength and Conditioning Journal, Runner's
World, SELF, SHAPE, and Men's Fitness. A frequent guest speaker, Girard Eberle
works with athletic departments, health clubs and women's symposiums. She is
a member of the NCAA Speakers Bureau and is part of the American College of
Sports Medicine's Female Athlete Triad Coalition.
Girard Eberle is a registered dietitian and holds a master's degree in clinical
nutrition from Boston University. She is a long-time member of the American
Dietetic Association, SCAN (Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists),
Nutrition Entrepreneurs and The Academy of Eating Disorders. She lives in Portland,
